Does this picture leave you cold?

A picture of the lab's new refirgerator. Maybe not that exciting, but ...

Refrigeration is said to have saved more lives than any other single technology or health intervention.

Regrigeration keeps vaccines cold, stores blood for transfusion, and keeps food from spoiling, among other things.

The new laboratory refrigerator keeps test materials and reagents cold (as well as a few samples awaiting transport to reference labs). When the previous (very little) refrigerator arrived in 2002, the lab was able to expand from offering 12 tests to more than 30 different tests virtually overnight.

This refrigerator was purchased as part of a Rotary International Matching Grant (Rotary Clubs of San Pedro de Macorís and Lincoln, Nebraska).
